Protect Costa Rica’s Rainforest Before It’s Too Late

Plant A Tree

Save The Rainforest

The Costa Rican rainforest is under attack. The location around the Osa Peninsula is dense with lush rainforest but could be destroyed if action isn’t take, and taken soon.

It’s important for all of us to protect and care for the rainforest because it provides water, air and food to all of us from around the world and is home to the planets rarest plants and animals. Rainforests like the one in Costa Rica also play a major role in climate change because they help regulate and sustain the planet’s temperature and weather.

The Osa Peninsula is often called the Jungle that meets the sea and has over 400,000 acres of dense forest.

Costa Rica’s increase in transportation and development is now threatening the peninsula and the forest is quickly starting to disappear. Issues like illegal logging and even poaching are destroying the landscape and doing irrecoverable harm.

Costa Rica is considered by many to have one of the largest bio-diverse areas on the whole planet. In fact it contains roughly 5% of the earth’s biodiversity.

The rainforest covers about 25% of the territory, making it a large portion of Costa Rica.

The have roughly 20 national parks to try and protect the forest but with an increase in illegal activities and tourism it’s hard to keep a watch on it all.

The Costa Rican rainforest is considered a tropical rain forest as well as a dry forest and a cloud forest. I learned this while doing the hcg diet plan while in Costa Rica. The HCG diet was a great weight loss plan but I will admit the beauty of the rainforest was so immense that it was hard to stay focused.

One of the most important facts to realize about the rainforest is that it provides more economic wealth than clearing it away and selling it away. This is quickly realized when you think about how much food, water and air the forest can continue to provide for decades to come.  But people seeking short term profits turn a blind eye to these issues.

The large tress in the forest can grow up to 100 feet tall and they absorb up to 90% of the photosynthesis that occurs in the forest. There are thousands of species of younger and smaller trees beneath. These trees survive by growing as high as they can in order to reach the light blocked from above.

Among the rainforest you will also find waterfalls and mountains, and even a volcano. It can be said that it’s one of the most primitive places to be on the whole planet. There are also many hot springs and rivers that will have you in awe.  If you visit the town of Jaco you will be but 15 minutes away and be able to travel and see this beautiful scenery.

If you ever visit Costa Rica consider taking a visit to the beautiful rainforest. But please do your part and take care of this precious resource. We all have to do our part to protect our habitat and make sure we keep our planet lush and sustainable. It’s only by doing this will we continue to thrive and keep a nice place for our children and their children’s children to live.

The forest can be there long after we have passed if we educate others and take the necessary steps to preserve it.
